fearing the cock

Why? It’s not so scary, actually.
Erect cocks are a gorgeous work of art; flaccid cocks are comical; and I often catch myself eyeing the bulge in an attractive man’s pants.

Either way, there’s nothing frightening about them.

The universal assumption that filmmakers and advertisers make that their viewers1 are all straight dudes infuriates me for lots of reasons – women put on display like museum props, as a doll-like collection of fuckable parts; the heterocentrism; the creepy voyeurism.
..but I’m also simply peeved that I’m unable to ogle beautiful men.

I’m sick of blustering straight male reviewers who warn movie-goers that a particular film has a cock shot, as though seeing a naked cock would have the same effect on viewers as a violent ax murder scene2.

I’m sick of seeing beautiful, naked women fucking mediocre-looking men, their pillowy tits bouncing mid-air for the audience while they ride cocks that viewers conveniently can’t see.

I’m sick of all the fucking gratuitous female nudity oozing out of our silver screens, partly because it has no male corollary.

I’m sick of seeing shitty pop psychology articles in the paper about how women just aren’t as ‘visually aroused’ as men are.

I want to see bath soap commercials with beautiful young boys lathering up their lean, tightly-muscled torsos.

I want to go out to a club or party and have at least a glimmer of hope that the same-sex couple making out behind me is a pair of horny, dry-humping boys and not a couple of unenthusiastic drunk chicks nibbling at each other’s faces for an eager male crowd.

…but instead, I watch hot gay male bondage porn and grumble discontentedly to myself while the world keeps on sucking.

1. ..because if you’re going to be sexing it up on celluloid, you may as well appeal to straight men, right? Straight women clearly have no sexuality; and queers are just icky.

2. ..and irritatingly enough, when it comes to scenes that might actually be triggering for lots of people (e.g. rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment), nary a word gets said. Granted, I’m sure there are abuse victims who are triggered by seeing male genitalia; but I’ve yet to see a single movie review that frames their anti-cock handwringing as “Gee, this film might trigger a rape victim in the audience.” rather than “Icky penis in this movie! Insulting my heterosexual male ego!”
